Luke Rockhold supremely confident ahead of LHW UFC debut: "I’m going to walk right through" Jan Blachowicz

Luke Rockhold can’t wait to get his hands on Jan Blachowicz at UFC 239.

The event will mark Rockhold’s light heavyweight debut, and the former UFC middleweight champion believes he has the weight, strength, and power to just walk straight through Blachowicz on July 6.

I’m walking right through this motherfucker [Blachowicz],I don’t really submit people these days. I just kind of take the life from them.” Rockhold said on recent podcast.

It’s going to be good man. I feel different, my weight, strength, power. Coming forward, I’m going to let myself be felt. I’m going to put it on these guys early and often, quick, short and to the point.

After suffering a devastating knockout loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 221, the 34-year-old is confident we’ll see a new and improved Rockhold at UFC 239, chalking his underwhelming performance against ‘Soldier of God’ to the gruelling weight cut to 185-pounds.

I feel free, I think the latter stages of my 185-pound career, I sucked so much weight off, it’s made me hesitant,” he said. “It’s taken away my power, I’m not as loose. I’ve had to be more tactical, kick and pop my shots."

If you see me early on in my career, I’m letting it go. I have the power and I’m not completely drained to where I can perform better. I see myself in that same kind of feeling.

Rockhold, who trains out of Hard Knocks 365 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been arduously campaigning for a title fight against reigning LHW king Jon Jones, and with a win over Blachowicz at UFC 239, the former Strikeforce champ could find himself knocking on the door of title contention.

UFC 239, which will see Jon Jones defend his title against Thiago Santos in the main event, takes place later this year, July 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
